The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is holding two public information meetings regarding the state’s goal to develop 2.4GW of offshore wind by 2030.

At the events, NYSERDA will provide an update on the state’s activities to identify areas for future offshore wind development, as well as New York’s Offshore Wind Standard and upcoming offshore wind solicitations.

The U.S. authority will also review New York’s ongoing outreach and stakeholder engagement activities, as well as studies and analyses the state is undertaking to reduce cost and risks.

The first meeting is taking place on 26 September in Long Beach City Hall from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. local time, with the second scheduled for 27 September from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Rockaway Beach.

NYSERDA released the New York Offshore Wind Master Plan at the beginning of 2018 as a guide for the development of the state’s offshore wind by 2030, and finalized a policy options paper, which provided an assessment of alternatives for addressing a range of issues pertinent to the successful deployment of the technology.

Most recently, NYSERDA issued a draft Request for Proposals (RFP) for the solicitation of up to 800MW of offshore wind capacity. Comments are due by 5 October and will help inform and refine the final RFP.
