Rostock-based EEW SPC has loaded out and delivered 116 out of 174 monopiles for Ørsted’s Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm.

The 116th monopile, along with five more units, was loaded onto the crane ship Svenja at the quayside in Rostock and transported to the base harbour Able Seaton in Great Britain, completing the first two phases of EEW SPC’s involvement in the project.

The first batch of monopiles left Rostock in late December 2017.

EEW SPC is currently producing the remaining 58 foundations for the third phase of the project. Another ten shipments are due by November 2018.

The 1.2GW Hornsea Project One is being constructed some 120 kilometres offshore Yorkshire, UK. The wind farm, equally owned by Ørsted and Global Infrastructure Partners, is scheduled to be fully commissioned in 2020.

Ørsted is constructing the wind farm under a full-scope EPC contract and will provide long-term O&M services from its base in Grimsby, as well as a route to market for the power generated by what will be the largest wind farm in the world.
