Van Oord has completed the acquisition of the UK-based MPI Offshore from Vroon Group, as well as vessels MPI Adventure and MPI Resolution.
The Dutch company has taken over the contracts for the London Array, Prinses Amaliawindpark and Rampion offshore wind farms the vessels are deployed on.
A total of hundred people, including the crew and office staff, will join Van Oord’s UK organization.
According to Van Oord, the acquisition is in line with the company’s ambitions and investment program for the coming years and follows a number of recent strategic add-ons, which include the acquisition of Bilfinger’s offshore wind activities and Ballast Nedam offshore operations.
“The acquisition of MPI Offshore helps us to strengthen our position in the UK wind market, the largest offshore wind market in the world,” said CEO, Pieter van Oord .
As reported earlier, Vroon sold a part of the offshore business of MPI to Jan De Nul, as well as the jack-up vessel MPI Discovery together with its crew and a number of MPI’s employees.
