SeaZip Offshore Service’s vessel SeaZip Fix is currently working on the export cable route at the Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.

The DP1 Ice Class Survey and ROV vessel is working out of Vlissingen, the Netherlands, supporting Deep BV with conducting monitoring surveys of the seabed preparation work.

According to SeaZip, the seabed is mapped with the hull mounted R2Sonic multibeam and sent to the dredging vessels during operation.

The trench of the export cable needs to be surveyed during the dredging works prior to the cable installation operation later this year, the Dutch company said.

Earlier this year, SeaZip and Deep Hydrography & Geophysics agreed to jointly operate SeaZip Fix as a result of a need for larger survey vessels due to wind farms being built farther offshore.

The 752MW Borssele 1 & 2 project will feature 94 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines located 23km from the coast of Zeeland.

Ørsted, the owner and developer, plans to have the wind farm fully commissioned at the end of 2020.

After Borssele 1 & 2, the 42m long vessel will provide MBES surveys during the cable installation operation at the Hornsea One project in the UK for the remainder of the year.
