Ørsted is holding a series of community information events about the onshore cable route for the Hornsea Project Two offshore wind project in the UK.
According to the Danish company, the aim of the events is that local people in North East Lincolnshire and East Lindsey find our more about the onshore cabling works for the 1.4MW project.
The first meeting will be held on 30 January at South Killingholme Community Centre, with the next scheduled for 4 February at Waltham Windmill Golf Club and 5 February at Tetney Golf Club. All three events will take place from 12:30 to 18:30 local time.
Besides Ørsted, VolkerInfra, who will undertake the works, will be present to provide information on the cable route and details on how the cable will be installed. The events are free to attend.
“We’ve been building offshore wind farms in the UK for over ten years and we know from experience how important it is to make sure local residents, businesses and stakeholders are up to date with our plans, and that they have the opportunity to ask both us and our contractors any questions,” said Duncan Clark , Project Director for both Hornsea One and Two.
“Following our community exhibition last July, these information events will focus specifically on plans for the onshore cable works including environmental aspects, methods of installation and traffic management.”
Hornsea Project Two is located 89km north-east of Grimsby and will comprise 165 Siemens Gamesa 8MW wind turbines.
The project’s 39km onshore cable route runs from Horseshoe Point, east of Tetney, to the substation site in North Killingholme, adjacent to the Hornsea Project One substation. Onshore works are expected to begin this March.
