Ulstein Verft has contracted Red Rock to deliver a 3D-motion compensated knuckle jib crane for the service operations vessel (SOV) ordered by Bernhard Schulte for the Merkur offshore wind farm .
Red Rock also delivered cranes and davits for the two previous vessels, Windea La Cour and Windea Leibniz , that Ulstein built for Bernhard Schulte.
To remind, Bernhard Schulte secured a contract by GE to provide a new-build SOV for the 396MW project offshore Germany in July 2018, after which the company placed an order with Ulstein Verft.
The Norwegian ship designer and shipbuilder cut the first steel for the SX195 design vessel in September last year. Shortly after, Bernhard Schulte and Ulstein signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DNV GL for the classification of the 93.4m long vessel.
After the delivery in early 2020, the new-build SOV will depart for the Merkur wind farm where it will support the maintenance of its 66 Haliade 150-6MW turbines.
