Boralex, Eneco, Diamond Generating Europe Limited (DGE) and Van Oord have established a consortium with an aim to submit a bid for the Dunkirk offshore wind project in France.

The Vents de Dunkerque consortium will feature Eneco’s experience in developing and building large-scale offshore wind farms, as well as Boralex’ local roots in Hauts de France and knowledge of the French market, the partners said.

According to the companies, Van Oord will provide its specialized fleet and knowledge of maritime regulations and risks at sea, while DGE, a fully owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, will contribute with its experience in energy projects and distribution activities.

France launched the tender for the development and operation of the Dunkirk project in mid-November last year, following a delay of several months.

In May 2017, ten potential developers had been pre-selected , with the winner expected to be announced by the middle of this year.

The Dunkirk project, part of the country’s third round of tenders , will have a capacity of between 400MW and 600MW. It will be installed at a 70km2 square area some 10km off the coast.
