MHI Vestas has reached a milestone for its V164 turbine model with the installation of the 200th unit.
According to MHI Vestas, the milestone turbine has been installed at the Norther offshore wind farm in Belgium.
It is the fifth out of 44 8.4MW turbines to be installed at the 370MW project.
Van Oord’s installation vessel Aeolus started installing the first batch of the turbines at the site some 23km offshore Zeebrugge at the beginning of February.
The milestone comes less than a year after the 100th V164 turbine was installed at the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind project in Germany.
The first V164-8.0 MW turbine was installed at Maade in Denmark in 2016, after which it has been installed on Burbo Bank Extension, Walney Extension West, Blyth offshore demonstrator project, and the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC), all in the UK.
MHI Vestas also has orders for Horns Rev 3 in Denmark, Deutsche Bucht in Germany, Northwester 2 in Belgium and Triton Knoll and Moray East in the UK.
