James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) has secured a contract to carry out unexploded ordnance (UXO) removal and boulder clearance at the Triton Knoll offshore wind farm.
JFMS is in charge of investigating and clearing locations at the 145km2 offshore site where earlier surveys have identified potential obstructions to construction.
The works, set to begin in spring, will utilize several vessels and crews together with a number of east coast ports including Grimsby likely to be involved.
The contract announcement follows JFMS’ expansion into new facilities in Grimsby, said to be due to the increasing number of offshore contracts.

According to innogy, this contract is critical to the safe and efficient installation of the turbines, offshore substations and inter-array and export cables that make up the 860MW wind farm.
Triton Knoll will comprise 90 MHI Vestas 9.5MW turbines located more than 32km offshore Lincolnshire. The project is scheduled for commissioning in 2021.
