Hitachi Zosen Corporation and the Tokyo-based Eco Power Co. Ltd. have established a joint venture company to develop an offshore wind project off the Aomori Prefecture in Japan.

The Nishikita offshore wind farm will comprise up to 125 wind turbines and have a capacity of 500MW.

The turbines will have an individual capacity of between 4MW and 9.5MW.

The wind farm is expected to be commissioned after 2025, Hitachi Zosen said.

The Aomori Nishikita Offshore Wind Power special purpose company is a 50-50 partnership between Hitachi Zosen and Eco Power.

Eco Power owns and operates over 160 wind turbines across some 20 onshore wind farms in Japan with a combined capacity of around 220MW.
