Arkona Gets DNV GL Project Certificate

DNV GL has awarded the Arkona offshore wind farm in Germany with the project certificate that confirms safe and reliable power supply.

The certificate confirms all relevant safety features and validates the technical and quality compliance with the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH – Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie) standard requirements, DNV GL said.

The certification was carried out according to the BSH7005 standard and covers all stages of the project development from design planning over construction to commissioning.

During the process, DNV GL said it worked in close partnership with the project team to ensure the timeline for the commissioning of the wind farm was met.

“Thanks to the great cooperation between our team of offshore experts and DNV GL’s goal-oriented and pragmatic certification approach, we managed to realise our ambitious objectives concerning our project certification timeline, which set a new standard in the offshore wind industry,” said Holger Matthiesen , Arkona Project Director for E.ON and Equinor.

Arkona comprises 60 Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines located 35km northeast of the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea. The 385MW offshore wind project was officially opened on 16 April.
