Corrosion Protection Consult GmbH has signed a contract to provide corrosion protection inspection on the BorWin gamma converter station in the German North Sea.
The contract started recently and is expected to be completed by the end of June. The scope of work includes monitoring and inspection of the coating works at the newly installed converter station.
The 900MW BorWin3 HVDC platform will convert the alternating current produced by offshore wind turbines to direct current before transmitting it onshore to the German national grid via a 160-kilometre cable link.
The commissioning of the BorWin3 grid connection is expected in 2019.
