Esvagt has sold Esvagt Supporter, its first service operations vessel (SOV) that served the offshore wind market.

The beginning of Esvagt Supporter’s deployment in the offshore wind sector came after the company needed to access the turbines at the Belwind project in Belgium.

Esvagt said it then decided to retrofit the vessel so it fulfills the functions defined with the customer Vestas Offshore.

According to Ole Ditlev Nielsen, Stakeholder Liaison Manager at Esvagt, Esvagt Supporter has set the foundation for all SOVs that the company is building today.

“There is a direct link from the Esvagt Supporter to all the SOV vessels that we are currently building, where all our knowledge, capabilities and experience are built into their design and concept,” said Ditlev Nielsen.

In 2017, the vessel was succeeded by the Esvagt Mercator at the Belwind project under a new ten-year contract with MHI Vestas.
