The Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm has begun receiving Contract for Difference (CfD) payments.

The Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) began allocating the payments for the first phase of the 1.2GW offshore wind project as it passed the required tests for its Operational Conditions Precedent (OCP).

The first project phase, with a capacity of 400MW, achieved a confirmed start date on 2 May, LCCC stated.

Hornsea Project One will comprise 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines connected to three offshore substations and a reactive compensation substation (RCS).

The wind farm recently reached the halfway turbine installation point , as 87 of its turbines have been installed and commissioned at the site some 120km off Yorkshire. Full commissioning is expected in 2020.
