Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up Blue Tern has arrived in the Port of Esbjerg to load its final wind turbine components to be installed on the 497MW Hohe See wind farm in the German North Sea.
The company’s second jack-up working o the project, Brave Tern, will soon arrive in Esbjerg to load the last sets of turbine components.
Brave Tern installed the first of the 71 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines at the site some 95km north of Borkum and 100km northwest of Helgoland in early April.
The wind farm delivered first power to the German grid mid-July.
The commissioning of all of the project’s 71 turbines, as well as 16 from the neighboring Albatros offshore wind project, is expected to take place by the end of the year.
The two wind farms are owned by EnBW, Enbridge Inc., and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).
