Deep Ocean Engineering Inc. (DOE) has unveiled a new Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) which can be used for the maintenance of offshore wind farms.
The Phantom X8 is a work-class vehicle configured with six vectored horizontal and two vertical 2.2 kW Tecnadyne brushless thrusters.
It boasts high definition (1080p) front (+/-90°) (pan optional) and rear (low light) cameras with three LED lights emitting 30,000 total Lumens, the company said, adding that it is capable of performing at depths of up to 1,000m.
Besides offshore wind farm maintenance, Phantom X8 can be used for pipeline inspection/routing, infrastructure repair and survey research.
According to DOE, the new vehicle is the largest and most heavy-duty ROV manufactured by the company.
