Great Yarmouth-based Stowen has won a contract to deliver a complete cathodic protection system to Equinor’s two Sheringham Shoal offshore subtations.
The work will take place in the fourth quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020. The installation of the system will ensure the life expectancy of the assets whilst providing a way of monitoring corrosion levels, Stowen said.

“The continued investment of having our personnel trained for use in multiple environments allows the team to be constructed from a pool of permanent employees bringing skilled trades to the project,” Stowen said.
This is Stowen’s second deployment on the 316.8MW Sheringham Shoal wind farm. Back in July 2018, Equinor hired Stowen to carry out non-destructive testing and survey of the wind farm’s 88 turbine monopiles.
Located some 17 kilometres off the coast of North Norfolk, the wind farm has been operational since 2012.
