First Subsea has delivered beach landing cable protection systems for three export cables at the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
First Subsea secured a contract in February for the three 250m long systems, which it delivered to Jan De Nul at the end of March.
According to the Lancaster-based company, the protection systems were designed to suit an export cable diameter of 158mm with a bending radius of 2.37m.
“The delivery deadlines were challenging but with the close cooperation and support of our client we successfully delivered another project with great positive feedback,” said First Subsea Project Manager Ross Carrington .
Jan De Nul completed the installation of the three export cables at the wind farm in August under the EPCI contract .
Formosa 1 Phase 2 will comprise 20 Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines which recently produced first power some 6km off the west coast of the Miaoli district in the Taiwan Strait.
The 120MW wind farm, an extension to the existing Formosa 1 Phase 1 , is expected to be fully operational by next year.
