SSE Renewables has selected Montrose Port as the preferred location for the O&M base for its Seagreen offshore wind farm in Scotland.
To remind, SSE’s 454MW Seagreen Phase 1 project was recently selected in the UK’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round 3 with a strike price of GBP 41.61/MWh.
This long-term commitment to Montrose Port Authority will ensure ongoing investment and re-development of the existing facilities in line with its remit as a trust port, SSE said.
“The Operations and Maintenance base will play an important role in the day-to-day running of Seagreen and we’re pleased to confirm Montrose as our preferred home,” said John Hill , Seagreen Project Director.
“Maintenance activities will be overseen from Montrose Port by our team to ensure the project is able to deliver clean, renewable energy reliably and safely on a day-to-day basis.”
HIll concluded that the aim is to use local, Scottish and UK-based suppliers where possible during the development of the Seagreen project.
