Ørsted has awarded Germanischer Lloyd Industrial Services with a contract to provide project certification services for the German Cluster offshore wind farm 01 (GCW01).
Under the deal, Germanischer Lloyd Industrial Services will carry out site conditions assessment (SCA) and project design basis evaluation (DBE).
The Hamburg-based company will evaluate whether the assessment of the external conditions on-site has been adequately undertaken and documented.
Additionally, the contractor is in charge of verifying that the design basis is sufficient and adequately documented, to ensure a safe design. This also includes document review.
Ørsted’s German cluster 1 comprises the 420MW Borkum Riffgrund West 1, 240MW OWP West, and 240MW Borkum Riffgrund West 2 offshore wind projects.
The three wind farms were recently merged under one name – Borkum Riffgrund 3.
