Green Shipping Line and Kongstein have finalized an agreement with Keystone Shipping Company to operate future shuttle vessels in the U.S. offshore wind market.

The deal follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that Green Shipping Line and Kongstein signed at the beginning of the year for the provision of a complete offshore wind farm supply solution in the U.S.

The supply solution includes a U.S. Jones Act compliant shuttle service, consultancy services, as well as development opportunities at several ports.

The feeder shuttle vessels, the first of which will be named The Eleanor, are planned to supply jack-up vessels with turbine components from U.S. ports.

Vessels would be constructed at Moran Iron Works in Onaway, Michigan, including the integration of Voith Roll Stabilization (VRS) to allow safe floating to fixed lifts.

The partners continue to conduct design iterations and hold stakeholder discussions with the aim to start construction in 2020.

“Having Keystone Shipping Company onboard is a pivotal moment for our project. They hold nearly a century of operational expertise in American waters, highest quality safety standards and the environmental stewardship we are striving for in these offshore wind projects,” said Thorsten Schütt , Chairman of the Board of Kongstein.
