Six charities from Lincolnshire, UK, have received a share of a GBP 12,000 charity fund pot from Siemens and the Triton Knoll offshore wind project.
The donations are part of an initiative which promotes and rewards excellence in health and safety amongst staff and contractors working at the onshore substation construction site near Bicker, Boston.
The charities, of which each received a GBP 2,000 award, were chosen because of their proximity to the construction project and have been nominated to receive the donations by the site team.
“Site safety is the main priority for Siemens on all its sites. We encourage employees to take personal action and report anything they think could cause a problem, or to report issues so that action can be taken,” said Colette Flynn , Stakeholder Engagement Manager at Siemens Transmission and Distribution.
“I’m delighted that we have achieved such a high level of safety on site which has allowed us to help support these excellent charities.”
Triton Knoll will feature 90 MHI Vestas 9.5MW turbines located off the UK’s East Coast. The 860MW project, owned by innogy, J-Power and Kansai Electric Power, is scheduled to enter the offshore construction phase in the first quarter of 2020.
