Fred. Olsen Ocean has opened a branch office in Taipei, Taiwan, to support the offshore wind business in the Asia Pacific region.

The companies represented by the new office include Fred. Olsen Windcarrier AS, Global Wind Service AS and Universal Foundation AS.

According to the company, the new office is located at the center of Taipei and will be the base for Hans A. Hansen, the newly appointed Regional Manager for APAC, who has been with Fred. Olsen since 2013.

“Taiwan and the Asia Pacific region holds many opportunities for our business, and we believe Taipei is the ideal location from which we can easily reach our clients in very short time,” said Hansen .

“We want to leverage the experience and competence we have in our companies and teams onshore and offshore to bring our industry forward and to build value locally where we operate. We are especially focused on the interesting future projects in Taiwan.”

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will begin its first turbine transportation and installation project in Taiwan in spring 2020 when it will mobilize one of its purpose-built jack-up vessels for the Yunlin offshore wind project.

The 640MW Yunlin wind farm is located some 6km off the southwest coast of Taiwan and will feature 80 Siemens Gamesa 8.0-167 DD turbines.
