TenneT has appointed Intertek to provide long-term client representation services in support of offshore wind grid connections in the North Sea.
Intertek is in charge of the full contract scope, including specialist client representation for maritime surveys, technical inspection and maintenance work on offshore platform structures, and for subsea cable installation and repair activities.
The surveys include hydrographic work, subsea cable depth measurements, erosion studies, and geotechnical exploration drilling.
TenneT has taken into operation 12 offshore grid connection systems in the German part of the North Sea. With their transmission capacity adding up to 7.132GW, the company has exceeded the government’s 6.5GW by 2020 offshore wind target for the North and Baltic Seas.
The transmission system operator plans to complete another four offshore projects with a capacity of 3.6GW by 2027.
