PKN ORLEN Seeks Technical Advisor for Offshore Wind Farm Design

Polish energy company PKN ORLEN has begun the selection process for a designer of an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

As part of the procedure, a technical advisor will be selected to prepare a preliminary offshore wind farm project, construction design, productivity analysis, and ancillary analysis.

The technical advisor is expected to be selected in the first half of 2020.

The company is currently conducting environmental, wind , and seabed surveys in the Baltic Sea.

The collected data will be analysed and used to create a preliminary technical design of an offshore wind farm.

The project will include, among others, a preliminary turbine placement plan, and will determine the optimal type and size of support structures for wind turbines, and assumptions about the expected farm productivity.

The works carried out at this stage will also allow the selection of specific technical solutions and the specification of the schedule and cost estimate of the planned investment. The prepared project will be the basis for submitting an application for a building permit for an offshore wind farm.

PKN ORLEN, through its subsidiary Baltic Power, holds a license to build wind farms in the Baltic Sea with a maximum total capacity of up to 1200MW. The area covers approximately 131km2 located some 23 kilometres offshore.
