Dominion Energy Plans CVOW Project Labor Deal

Dominion Energy has agreed to negotiate a Project Labor Agreement with three U.S. building and construction trade unions for its Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project.

Dominion Energy announced the plan along with the Virginia State Building and Construction Trades Council, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Laborer’s International Union of North America (LiUNA!) Mid-Atlantic Region.

The Project Labor Agreement will see skilled craft labor perform the onshore electrical interconnection work for the first stage of the CVOW project, whether directly or through the relevant contractor.

“IBEW, the Building and Construction Trades, and LiUNA! have already worked closely with our team on some of the most complex projects in our history. The union commitment to safety, excellence, and creating well-paying jobs with good benefits aligns with our values,” said Thomas F. Farrell , Dominion Energy Chairman, President and CEO.

“We look forward to working with our union partners on delivering the jobs, environmental and economic benefits of Virginia renewable energy to the Commonwealth.”

The 12MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project is being built by Dominion Energy and Ørsted 27 miles of the coast of Virginia.

It is expected to provide the operational, weather, and environmental experience needed for large-scale development in Dominion Energy’s adjacent 112,800ha lease site, which has the capacity to generate up to 2.6GW of offshore wind if fully developed.

CVOW’s two Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines will be installed this spring and are scheduled to come online later this year.
