Ingeteam Kit for Jan De Nul’s Giant Jack-Up

Ingeteam has secured a contract to provide an electrical power system as well as an Integrated Automation System for Jan De Nul’s offshore jack-up installation vessel Voltaire.

Currently under construction at COSCO Nantong shipyard in China, the Voltaire is said to be the largest wind farm installation vessel in the world.

Standing taller than the Eiffel tower, the Voltaire has over 7,000m3 of cargo deck space, a 14,000-tonne payload, and more than 3,000-tonne lifting capacity, enabling the installation of the heaviest foundations and largest wind turbines. It will be able to accommodate 100 persons.

The vessel is 181 metres long and will enter into service in 2022. The jack-up’s first job will be to transport and install the Haliade-X 12MW wind turbines on the Dogger Bank Wind Farms, the world’s largest offshore wind farm located some 130km from the Yorkshire coast, UK.

“We look forward to working with Ingeteam Power Technology during the construction of this groundbreaking vessel. Our experience with Ingeteam Power Technology during previous projects and their expertise in complex electrical systems for DP offshore installation vessels reinforce our confidence in an successful execution of the project,” said Tom Maes , director of Electrical Installations department at Jan De Nul Group.
