Dutch subsea survey specialist Deep BV is carrying out unexploded ordnance (UXO) geophysical survey at the Formosa 2 wind farm offshore Taiwan.
The survey is being carried out at the potential locations of the wind turbines, the company said.
Deep BV did similar work on the 128MW Formosa 1, Taiwan’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm.
Located some four kilometres offshore Miaoli County in the Taiwan Strait, the 376MW Formosa 2 will comprise 47 Siemens Gamesa 8.0 – 167 turbines mounted on jacket foundations.
Onshore construction related to the wind farm started in November 2019. The project is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2021 when it will become Taiwan’s largest offshore wind farm.
