Global Offshore's Newbie to Work on Kriegers Flak

Global Offshore’s newly added offshore installation and construction vessel Normand Clipper is set to be deployed at the Kriegers Flak offshore wind project.

Normand Clipper, on long-term charter from Solstad Offshore, will be operational within the first quarter of this year.

According to Global Offshore, the vessel will carry out inter-array cable installation at the Danish wind farm this summer.

“Our in-house engineering and operational teams are currently working together to mobilise the vessel in Blyth ahead of two important projects; the Pentland Firth power cable installation project on behalf of one of our key customers SSEN commencing in May, followed by inter array cable installation at the Danish Kriegers Flak wind farm, for offshore energy giant Vattenfall, later this summer,” said Mike Daniel , Managing Director of Global Offshore.

Normand Clipper is currently being fitted with a 4,000t cable carousel, two 15t cable tensioners, a 25t quadrant deployment frame and a fully integrated control system.

The vessel will be capable of operating in an increased operational window of significant wave height up to 3m, Global Offshore said.

Kriegers Flak has a capacity of 605MW and will comprise 72 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines installed 15-40km off the Danish coast.
