Finns Seek CTVs for Icy Seas

Suomen Hyötytuuli Ltd. is seeking new service vessels and operators for maintenance teams working on the Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm in Finland .

Tahkoluoto is the world’s first offshore wind farm built for icy conditions and comprises 10 Siemens 4.2MW turbines and one 2.3MW unit.

The 42MW project is located outside the City of Pori, and the turbines are the first-ever to have been erected on waters with moving ice packs, which causes challenges in operations, Suomen Hyötytuuli said.

According to the Finnish company, the actual maintenance season starts in springtime and continues until early summer, however, there will be work to do during the whole open-water period.

The maximum pax is 12 persons, except in wintertime when only six can be fitted in.

The connection to turbine landing can be performed with just brute force push against the turbine or with some more sophisticated way, the developer concluded.

Interested parties are invited to contact the company by 1 May.

Tahkoluoto, which is also Finland’s first offshore wind farm, was inaugurated in September 2017.
