Deugro has completed loading the second shipment of wind turbine towers for the SeaMade offshore wind farm at the Port of Avilés in Spain.

The special purpose vessels Rotra Vente is transporting the tower parts to the Port of Ostende, where the REBO (Renewable Energy Base Oostende) sites are serving as storage and pre-assembly points. From the REBO terminal, the towers will also be loaded on the installation vessel Apollo, which will install the SeaMade wind turbines.

The first towers for the new Belgian offshore wind farm arrived to Ostend at the end of March.

The Rotra Vente and its sister vessel Rotra Mare will ship all wind turbine components from various sites to Ostend over the coming months. This includes 58 nacelles, 174 tower parts and 174 blades.

The installation of 58 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW turbines is due to start this spring.

The final monopile foundation was installed on 2 January and both of the project’s offshore substations have been in place since mid-March.

Full commissioning of the SeaMade offshore wind farm is expected by the end of the year.

The 487 MW wind farm, located some 50 kilometres offshore Ostend, is a combination of the 235 MW Mermaid and the 252 MW Seastar offshore wind projects.
