The UK government has extended the comment period for the proposed amendments to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The consultation period was initially supposed to end on 22 May but has been extended to 29 May to give more time for sending responses.
To remind, the UK recently proposed amendments to the CfD scheme which would introduce floating offshore wind as a separate eligible technology with its own administrative strike price, providing a distinction from fixed-bottom projects.
Currently, the scheme includes Pot 1 for ”established” renewable energy technologies, and Pot 2 for ”less established” technologies, which currently includes offshore wind. BEIS also proposed establishing a separate pot, Pot 3, for fixed-bottom offshore wind projects.
The government intends to run a CfD allocation round in 2021 for all eligible technologies.
