Dutch energy infrastructure company Gasunie has issued a tender seeking consultancy services for the North Sea Wind Power Hub (NSWPH) program.

Under the 18-month contract, the selected company will be in charge of providing consultancy services with regards to offshore hub design, connection configurations, roll-out pathways, as well as system integration challenges.

The first study needs to be completed by 1 July 2021.

The deadline for submitting applications for the tender is 16 July by 11:00 local time. The contract can be extended three times for one year.

Consortium partners behind the NSWPH program Gasunie, TenneT Netherlands, TenneT Germany and Energinet have joined together to develop a large-scale European energy system for offshore wind in the North Sea over the next few decades.

The project is based on a ”hub and spoke” concept, where wind farms will connect to one or several hub islands via alternating current cables. The power is then converted into direct current electricity by converters on the hub islands before being exported by a series of interconnectors (the spokes) to connecting North Sea countries.

Through this system, the consortium aims to optimize the spatial efficiency of both offshore wind farms and interconnectors.
