Apollo Heads to SeaMade with First Turbine Sets

DEME Offshore’s jack-up Apollo has left the REBO terminal in Oostende loaded with the first set of turbine components to be installed on the 487 MW SeaMade wind farm offshore Belgium.

Apollo arrived at the REBO heavy load terminal in the Port of Oostende on 14 June, after undergoing spudcan shoes extension at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque in France.

The vessel departed the terminal loaded with two sets of Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW wind turbines this morning.

In total, Apollo will transport and install 58 wind turbines in sets of two at the site located 35-50 kilometres off Oostende.

This is Apollo’s first assignment in the Belgian North Sea and also the first time that the vessel will install wind turbines, the Port of Oostende said.

The SeaMade wind farm is scheduled to be operational by the end of the year and the project remains on track despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the port said.
