DEME’s cable laying vessel Living Stone has completed the cable burial activities at the SeaMade offshore wind farm site in the Belgian sector of the North Sea.

The vessel started the inter-array cable laying works in April and connected the first cables to one of the project’s offshore substations (OSS) at the end of the same month.

The cable burial works started in early May.

Living Stone finished installing all 64 inter-array cables with a total length of 71.2 kilometres at the SeaMade site at the end of May.

The vessel completed the export cable installation in December 2019.

The 487 MW SeaMade offshore wind farm consists of the 235 MW Mermaid and the 252 MW Seastar offshore wind projects, and two offshore substations.

All foundations at the project site have been in place since the beginning of January.

The installation of 58 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW turbines started in the second half of June, with the first wind turbine erected a few of days later.

SeaMade is scheduled to be operational by the end of the year.
