SMST has secured a contract to deliver its modular mission equipment for what will be Taiwan’s first service operation vessel (SOV).

Under the contract awarded by Vard Vung Tau, SMST will deliver an access and cargo tower with motion compensated gangway and 3D motion compensated crane for the new build SOV.

The equipment is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2021.

“The gangway will be equipped with assisted landing and there will be a shared operator chair installed on the ship’s bridge to control both the crane and gangway. This will increase overall efficiency of the vessel,” said Menno de Jong , Sales Manager at SMST.

The SOV will be built by Vard in Vietnam and will be chartered by Ørsted for its Greater Changhua offshore wind project in Taiwan.

The 84.4m vessel, a Vard 4 19 design, will have a beam of 19.5m and will be able to accommodate 87 people in single cabins. It is set to be delivered in Q1 2022.
