The U.S. Department of Interior and Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in offshore oil and gas, offshore wind energy and seabed minerals activities.
Under the MOU, the two countries’ authorities agreed on the exchange of scientific and technical information, and cooperation regarding research and development technologies.
According to a press release from 19 August, one of the priorities the U.S. and Norway will be discussing is offshore wind, with a focus on floatimg wind technology.
The two countries will also focus on strategies for identifying and inventorying new supplies of marine mineral resources of commercial or economic interest.
“The MOU signed today will further strengthen the longstanding energy partnership between our two countries. I’m convinced that sharing of best practices and experience will be mutually beneficial, and contribute to sustainable resource management” , said State Secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, Tony Christian Tiller .
