Wpd has signed several supply agreements for the 350 MW Guanyin offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
MHI Vestas will supply 36 of its V164-type wind turbines, for which CS Wind Taiwan will manufacture the towers. Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will be in charge of the wind turbine installation.
Taiwanese companies Formosa Heavy Industries and CTCI Machinery will deliver the monopile foundations, which will be installed by Seaway 7’s heavy lift vessel Seaway Yudin .
CSBC-Deme Wind Engineering (CDWE) will install the subsea cables and GE Taiwan will build the project’s onshore-substation.
Operations & maintenance contract has been signed with Deutsche Windtechnik and includes using a locally-built crew transfer vessel (CTV).
“We have fulfilled our promise to deliver the project. It is ready for construction and includes a very strong footprint of the local industry. For this we are prepared to invest 1.7 billion Euro as soon as we receive the final confirmation by the Taiwanese authorities” , said Achim Berge Olsen , COO of wpd AG.
The construction will start as soon as the remaining permits are issued by the Taiwanese government, according to wpd.
Guanyin is wpd’s second project under development in Taiwan, following the 640 MW Yunlin offshore wind farm, which entered construction phase earlier this year, after the financing syndication was closed in November 2019.
In April, wpd announced a streamlined construction schedule for the Guanyin project, saying the 350 MW wind farm will be installed within one year and operational in 2022.
