The jacket foundation and pin piles for the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) Alpha platform have arrived from the United Arab Emirates to the Netherlands.

According to Petrofac’s post on social media, the 3,200-tonne jacket is currently off the coast of Scheveningen, waiting for Heerema Marine Contractors’ semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) Sleipnir to place it at its designated location within the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm zone.

The six-legged jacket foundation has been manufactured by Eversendai Offshore at its fabrication yard in RAK Maritime City, where the company cut the first steel in September 2019.

The jacket left the Eversendai Offshore shipyard on board the Hua Xing Long vessel in mid-July.

The 700 MW HKZ Alpha topside will be delivered by Drydocks World from its yard in Dubai.

Petrofac is the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contractor for TenneT’s HKZ Alpha and Beta offshore substations, with Eversendai Offshore and Drydocks set to deliver the foundation and topside for the latter, as well.

The Hollandse Kust Zuid zone comprises four offshore wind farms that will be connected to the HKZ Alpha and HKZ Beta substations. The wind farms are being developed by Vattenfall.
