Windhoist Joins Moray East Team

Ayrshire-based Windhoist Limited has won a contract to provide local technicians to assist with pre-assembly works for Moray East offshore wind farm in Scotland.

20 locally-based technicians have been recruited for the project which commences this month and is expected to reach completion in September 2021.

This marks the third scope of works Windhoist has undertaken for MHI Vestas since providing initial services in late 2019.

“We are delighted with the awards we have achieved within our first year of gaining approved supplier status with MHI Vestas, we also have the benefit of each contract award relating to different areas of activity: Offshore Installation, Offshore O&M, and now Offshore Pre-Assembly. Our aim has been to develop a solid foundation from which Windhoist can provide further support to MHI Vestas in the upcoming period ,” Willie Dawson , Windhoist Offshore Director, said.

The 950 MW Moray East wind farm will comprise 100 MHI Vestas 9.5 MW wind turbines installed at the site some 22 kilometres off the Aberdeenshire coast. The turbines are expected to be fully up and running in 2022.

The Port of Cromarty Firth will serve as the pre-assembly hub for the project.

Moray East is being developed by Moray Offshore Windfarm East Ltd (MOWEL), a joint venture company owned by Ocean Winds (56.6%) Diamond Green Limited (33.4%), and CTG (10%).
