Eneco has joined the Amsterdam IJmuiden Offshore Ports (AYOP), an association focused on the offshore energy sector which gathers more than 85 companies and organisations active in the North Sea Canal region.

According to AYOP’s press release from 21 September, the membership will provide Eneco with “an ideal way to work with regional players” on operations and maintenance (O&M) of its existing offshore wind farms, as well as on the Hollandse Kust Noord project, for which the company won the tender in July in a consortium with Shell.

“Eneco has already been working well with AYOP in various offshore wind farm projects” , said Ruben Dijkstra , director of offshore wind at Eneco. “As part of CrossWind we are now looking to make a good start to realising the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm while further strengthening our cooperation with the region. This is where our membership of AYOP comes in, enabling us to intensify our relationships based on mutual trust”.

Located some 18.5 kilometres off the west coast of the Netherlands, near the town of Egmond aan Zee, the 759 MW Hollandse Kust (noord) will comprise 69 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW turbines.

The CrossWind consortium plans to have Hollandse Kust Noord operational in 2023.

“We are pleased that such a leading player in the wind energy sector as Eneco has chosen to join our association” , said AYOP director Sylvia Boer . “Together with Shell and Vattenfall the move reinforces our strong cluster in the region in terms of both of opportunities for other members and partners and the sharing and multiplication of knowledge. Working together is the only way to realise the energy transition”.
