Mech-Tool Engineering (MTE) has completed and delivered fire & blast walls for the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) Beta offshore substation to DryDocks World Ltd.

The project was completed within budget and ahead of schedule, MTE said.

MTE delivered fire & blast walls for the HKZ Alpha platform earlier this year.

Drydocks World is responsible for the construction, engineering, commissioning, and load-out of the topsides for the HKZ Alpha and Beta platforms.

The jacket foundations for the substations will be delivered by Eversendai Offshore. The HKZ Alpha jacket and the accompanying pin piles were installed at the site in the Dutch North in September.

The HKZ Alpha topside is expected to be installed in the fourth quarter of 2021. The HKZ Beta is scheduled for completion in 2022.

Petrofac is the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contractor for TenneT’s two substations.

The 700 MW HKZ Alpha and Beta platforms will collect the electricity generated at Vattenfall’s 1.5 GW Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm and deliver it to the Dutch grid.

The wind farm’s 140 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW wind turbines are scheduled to be fully operational in 2023.
