BoldWind loading nacelles for Triton Knoll at LINDØ port of ODENSE

The MV BoldWind heavy load deck carrier has picked up the wind turbine nacelles for the Triton Knoll offshore wind farm at the LINDØ site in the Danish port of Odense.

The vessel arrived there last week, according to LINDØ, which added that this was the first port call there for MV BoldWind . After loading 15 nacelle pieces for MHI Vestas wind turbines, the vessel set sail to the UK.

The nacelles, together with other wind turbine components, are going to the Able Seaton Port, where they will be pre-assembled before being loaded onto vessels for transport to the wind farm.

MHI Vestas, which is supplying 90 of its 9.5 MW units for Triton Knoll, moved in to Able Seaton Port in October in preparation for the wind turbine installation, scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2021. All turbine foundations and export cables have been installed by the end of August.

The 857 MW Triton Knoll, located 32 kilometers off the Lincolnshire coast, is being built by RWE Renewables in partnership with J-Power and Kansai Electric Power, and is expected to be commissioned in 2021.

As for MV BoldWind , the vessel was delivered to its owner United Wind Logistics (UWL) his May and made its first port call in Esbjerg in July, when it offloaded wind turbine blades for the Moray East offshore wind farm.

The heavy cargo deck carrier has been hired by MHI Vestas under a long-term charter agreement, as is its sister vessel MV BraveWind , delivered to UWL in October. Both vessels were built at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China.
