Siemens Gamesa Charters Rem Offshore's Newbuild CSV

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has signed a long-term charter contract with Rem Offshore for the newbuild Construction Service Vessel (CSV), Rem Energy.

The vessel will be performing maintenance on various wind farms in Germany, the Norwegian supply shipping company said.

Rem Inspector will perform the role as a frontrunner to the newbuild and having already worked on the Global Tech 1 wind farm for two seasons she will return for most of 2021.

“We are proud to continue supporting Siemens Gamesa in their quest for optimal solutions for the offshore wind industry,” said Fredrik Remøy , CEO of Rem Offshore

”We have dedicated large resources for growth in renewables, and it is with great pleasure we can start seeing the results of this hard work.”

Earlier this month, Rem Offshore announced the signing of the contract with Green Yard Kleven in Ulsteinvik, Norway, to build the CSV tailormade for operations on offshore wind installations.

The vessel is designed by Havyard Design & Solutions AS and is of the HAVYARD 833 CSV type.

Rem Energy is scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2021.

”For us as a shipping company, this is the first newbuild contract within offshore wind, with a forward-looking design concept that has been developed in close cooperation with Havyard and end customer,” said Remøy.

The 90-metre CSV will be equipped with a walk-to-work gangway and three cranes, and will provide accommodation for up to 99 persons.

Rem Energy will also have a weather deck and an automated warehouse below deck for spare parts and goods.

“The vessel has been developed in close cooperation with designer and client, and has several inventive features which meet future requirements for zero emission and optimal workflow,” said Ronny Pål Kvalsvik , Technical & Purchasing Manager in Rem.

”It has been a great pleasure to work in close cooperation with SGRE team, designer and yard to optimize Rem Energy.”
