Ørsted has invited tenders for ship management of six of its crew transfer vessels (CTV) servicing three Danish offshore wind farms: Anholt, Horns Rev 2 and Nysted. The company is looking to procure the services from one supplier.

Under a five-year contract, starting on 1 October, the tender winner will provide technical management with clear objectives of optimising and improving performance whilst reducing running cost, with high focus on safe operation. This also includes maintaining the CTVs to a high standard both visually and operationally, and ensuring their highest possible availability.

The ship management service provider will also be in charge of crew management, which involves attracting, employing and retaining well qualified personnel.

Of the six vessels, four are registered as General Cargo Ships and two are registered as passenger ships. All vessels are registered in Danish International Register of Shipping (DIS) and are stationed in Denmark at three different ports. Normally, three CTVs are stationed in Grenaa, two in Esbjerg and one in Gedser, but they can be relocated between the sites in accordance with the workload at each of the offshore wind farms.

The tender is open for applications until 17 March. The five-year contract to be awarded has been valued at DKK 175 million (approximately EUR 23.5 million) and includes an option for one-year extension for five times.

The 165.6 MW Nysted (Rødsand I) offshore wind farm has been operational since 2003. The 209 MW Horns Rev 2 went into operation six years later, and has since produced more than 10 billion kWh of electricity. The Anholt offshore wind farm, which has a nameplate capacity of 400 MW, was inaugurated in 2013.
