Windar Loading Out First Saint-Brieuc Pin-Piles

Spain’s Windar renovables is shipping out the first batch of pin-piles manufactured for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project in France.

Tadarsa Logistics is assisting Windar renovables in loading out the first 15 pin-piles for the turbine jacket foundations and four pin-piles for the substation jacket foundation at the port of Avilés.

The vessel and the pin-piles are expected to leave for Cherbourg shortly, Windar said.

The Navantia-Windar consortium is in charge of manufacturing and assembling 62 jacket foundations and the accompanying pin-piles which will support the Saint-Brieuc wind farm’s Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines offshore Brittany.

Iberdrola, the wind farm’s owner, awarded the contract to the compatriot Navantia-Windar consortium through Ailes Marines, the developer of the 496 MW project.

Construction at the site some 16 kilometres off Brittany is expected to start this year, and the full commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for 2023.
