Farra Marine has ordered a second Incat Crowther crew transfer vessel (CTV) from Penguin Shipyard.
The Irish vessel operator ordered its first vessel from the Windflex-27 series last year, with the CTV already nearing completion and set to become the first catamaran wind farm service vessel operating under the Irish flag.
The second vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2022.
The designer Incat Crowther said that Farra Marine’s Windflex-27 CTVs shared the same propulsion as Valkyrie and Wotan , recently acquired by Opus Marine and chartered by Ørsted for work in Taiwan . However, the Irish operator’s vessels have been extensively customised to meet the company’s unique requirements.
According to Incat Crowther, the 27-metre vessels offer excellent speed, deadweight, and seakeeping, making them capable of many roles in the offshore wind industry.
The 24-pax catamarans have a deadweight of above 50 tonnes, feature two working decks, and have an operating speed in excess of 29 knots.
