The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has issued a Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Construction and Operations Plan (COP) for the Revolution Wind project.
The publication of the NOI opens a 30-day public comment period during which BOEM will hold three virtual public scoping meetings and accept comments to inform the preparation of the EIS.
The virtual scoping meetings will be held on 13 and 18 May at 5:30 p.m., as well as on 20 May at 1:00 p.m.
BOEM’s scoping process is intended to identify what should be considered in the COP EIS. Comments are invited on the important resources and issues, impact-producing factors, reasonable alternatives and potential mitigating measures.
Revolution Wind is planned to have up to 100 turbines making a total capacity of up to 880 MW, expected to be put into operation in 2023.
It is located in federal waters approximately 17.4 nautical miles south of Rhode Island. Port of Galilee is identified as the location for an onshore O&M facility.
