DEME’s dual-fuel cable laying vessel Living Stone has completed her liquefied natural gas (LNG) sea trials after being bunkered with LNG for the first time.
The ship-to-ship bunkering was conducted in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, by Titan LNG’s FlexFueler, DEME said.
Living Stone completed her sea trials back in 2018. The vessel’s first assignment was on the 1.2 GW Hornsea Project One off the UK, currently the world’s largest operating offshore wind farm.
The vessel also installed the inter-array and export cables at the 487 MW SeaMade wind farm in the Belgian North Sea, as well as the export cable connecting Elia’s Modular Offshore Grid.
Living Stone’s latest assignment was the installation of inter-array cables at the 950 MW Moray East wind farm offshore Scotland.
Looking ahead, the cable layer will be deployed on the 1.2 GW Dogger Bank A and the 1.2 GW Dogger Bank B wind farms offshore the UK.
Under the EPCI contract, DEME will in total supply, install, and protect 650 kilometres of 66 kV inter-array cables and all related accessories for the first two phases of the world’s largest offshore wind project.
The production will start in 2021 and Living Stone will be in charge of the installation.
