Ørsted has awarded a Marine Warranty Services (MWS) contract to Global Maritime Singapore, which will provide the services for the wind turbine installation phase at the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

“This project will expand our footprint in the growing Offshore Wind market in Asia which is a key aspect of the Global Maritime strategy in the support of the energy transition” , the company said via social media.

The wind turbine installation activities are scheduled to commence in 2022.

Offshore construction has already started at the project site, located in the Taiwan Strait, some 35 to 50 kilometres off the coast of Changhua County, where the installation vessel Aegir installed the jacket foundation for one of the project’s two offshore substations this month.

This year, the construction activities will include export and array cable laying, and installation of the offshore substations and foundations.

In preparation for the wind turbine installation next year, the first turbine tower sections started arriving at the Port of Taichung in March.

Greater Changhua 1 & 2a will comprise 111 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines,
